Macadamias: crop estimates revised upwards again

CANBERRA. The Australian Macadamia Society's latest crop estimates exceed the INC's recently released forecast, with crop damage from the severe drought lower than expected.

The driest year since weather records

In the INC's November report, estimates for the new Australian macadamia crop were 42,000 mt, which would have represented a 3.4% decline from last year. The Australian Macadamia Society (AMS) currently comes up with more optimistic estimates. They expect a crop of 46,900 mt of macadamias in shell with a moisture content of 3.5%.
