Sultanas: demand remains subdued

MANISA. Although this week started off with springlike temperatures, the nights are to get cold meaning that frost still poses a risk for Turkey's sultanas and raisins. The nighttime frosts in recent weeks may have only had limited impact on the vines so far, but...

...market players are, nevertheless, concerned. Issue is that frost may occurr until the end of April. 

Firm export prices for the time being

Around 292,000 mt of sultanas and raisins were registered at the Izmir Stock Exchange at the end of March, inlcuding supplies from the 2019 crop. Trading remains subdued. No volumes were in fact traded last week.The reference prices for raw type 8 and type 9 sultanas range at TRY 11.00/kg and TRY 11.20/kg. Although the Turkish lira has recenlty taken a dip, export prices have remained firm.
