CHRUDIM/ANKARA. Czech poppy seed farmers are taking advantage of the current situation and hold back their supplies. At the same time, market players are confident about the acreage for the 2021 crop.

Good demand keeps prices up

Czech market players continue to report comparatively high demand. Farmers are taking advantage of this and are holding back their supplies, which is having an impact on spot offers. Czech blue poppy seeds arecurrently traded at prices of EUR 1.91-1.96/kg FCA Czech Republic. However, the higher the desired quality, the more difficult the goods are to procure. Meanwhile, export prices for poppy seeds from Turkey are trending somewhat lower. Blue poppy seeds with less than 20 ppm morphine are available from USD 2.70
