SUCRE/LIMA. With significant production declines expected for 2021, prices have skyrocketed in recent weeks. Some drastic changes have also been recorded in EU imports.

Crop volume could decline by a quarter

It had already become apparent at the beginning of the year that the Brazil nut market is characterised by numerous uncertainties. While at the end of 2020 it initially looked as if production would decline in the 2020/2021 season, these estimates were revised in March by the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC), so that a global production increase of 5% was now indicated.
