Prunes: Global production is set to rise

SACRAMENTO/SANTIAGO DE CHILE. Global production is expected to rise by 20% in 2019/2020. Among other things, the weather conditions in California prompted high yields.

Production to range at 100,000 metric tonnes in California

Although the acreage is similar in size to last year, favourable weather conditions during flowering led to a significant increase in yields in California. The California Department of Food and Agriculture, estimates this year's US production at nearly 100,000 mt. However, the estimates presented by the INC at the end of May ranged at 90,000 metric tonnes.
