BEIJING. In the Chinese pumpkin seed market, the decline in acreage meets exorbitantly high freight rates. Buyers from overseas are correspondingly cautious. Meanwhile, exporters disagree about further price developments.

Freight costs reach USD 9,000

As usual druing the summer and holiday season, the Chinese pumpkin seed market remains quiet. Export enquiries for prompt off-contract shipments are few and far between, and domestic demand is also low. Freight prices play a decisive role, too. Although they are no longer rising to the same extent as before, the trend is still going upwards. A 20' FCL for shipments to the EMP currently costs USD 8,500-9,000.
