Pumpkin seeds: exporters refrain from investments

BEIJING. High domestic demand is driving up prices for Shine Skin kernels in China. Altough GWS kernels are also trading higher , the rise is not quite as sharp. The prices on offer certainly need to become more attractive in October.

Export prices are anything but attractive

Demand is still up in China in the run up to the Moon Festival on 21 September and the Golden Week, which is celebrated at the start of October. The has prompted a further rise in farmgate prices for Shine Skin kernels to CNY 19/kg. While sales are up in the domestic market, trading is rather subdued in the export market. Overseas demand is too low as prices are too high, which is why exporters refrain from buying supplies.
