Pumpkin seeds: holidays slow down trading activity

DALIAN. Chinese New Year is approaching and is drawing the attention of traders. In addition to the upcoming holidays, coronavirus outbreaks in some cities could, according to market players, lead to trading activity being curbed further.

Buying interest is low

Expensive goods and high freight costs made Chinese pumpkin seeds much less attractive to buyers from overseas this season, which was also reflected in demand. Export prices for shine skins, grade A are currently at a level of USD 4,020/mt CFR EMP and GWS kernels of similar quality are significantly cheaper than last week at USD 4,205/mt CFR.
