DALIAN. Domestic demand for pumpkin seeds has surged in China as the Golden Week will be celebrated at the start of October. Traders are forcing processors to pay high prices.

Traders set prices at will

China's Golden Week holiday marks the founding of the People's Republic around 1 October and has prompted domestic demand for shine skin kernels to rise sharply. As only few traders still hold sufficient supplies they can set the prices they like and last year's crop is trading higher. Roasters and other processors have no other option but to accept these offers.
