Pumpkin seeds: no price declines for now

DALIAN. Prices for the new crop continue to fluctuate strongly depending on the supplier. Especially buyers from overseas are hesitating at the moment and prefer to wait; however, this tactic could backfire.

Official harvest start announced

Although domestic demand on the shine skin market has picked up steadily in recent weeks, it is not enough to drive prices up. There is still so much left of the old crop that a large quantity has to be taken into the new season as carry-over stocks. The harvest start has now been officially set for 20 August and market players are expecting an opening price of CNY 18.5/kg. This seems a reasonable price considering that the cost of production for growers is CNY 15/kg.
