DALIAN. As price differences widen, more and more buyers are looking at replacing their shine skin purchases with GWS kernels. Farmers, meanwhile, are getting nervous as demand is not developing in their favour.

Farmgate prices continue to fall

In the Chinese pumpkin seed market for shine skins, farmers are becoming increasingly nervous; more and more of the new crop is arriving at the markets, but there is little buying interest. Farmgate prices have dropped from CNY 18.5 to 18.0/kg and even at this price suppliers are only stocking up on the bare essentials to fulfil their current contracts.
