SUCRE/LIMA. Despite good crops, quinoa prices in South America remain at a comparatively high level. However, colourful varieties remain in short supply. Peru’s harvest is experiencing delays.

Factors driving prices

Inflation, higher production and processing costs, and rising fuel prices mean that quinoa prices remain at a high level, and the upward trend is set to continue for the time being. Yet favourable growing conditions had ensured a good crop. Only red and black quinoa are in short supply again this year, as farmers have sown smaller areas.
