Sesame seeds: firm prices until the end of the year

NEW DELHI/ABUJA. Lower production estimates and good domestic demand are leading to firmer prices in the Indian sesame seed market. However, the availability of new crops from other origins partly negates this.

Lower crop forecasts

Prices on the Indian sesame seed market firmed this week. This is not so much due to the tender that will take place next week, but rather to the latest reports on the sesame seed crop. At the moment, they state that sesame seed production in India will be at least 20% lower than previously assumed. This encourages exporters and traders to stock up on sufficient goods ahead of time.
