NEW DELHI. Indian sesame farmers are worried about possible crop damage. At the same time, the tender expected soon raises hopes of increasing sales.

Unfavourable weather conditions

Unpredictable weather changes are causing concern to Indian farmers in Saurashtra, particularly in the regions of Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Amreli, and Bhavnagar. Due to heavy rainfall and stormy weather, harvests had to be partially interrupted, including chickpeas and garlic. Likewise, the weather poses a risk to sesame cultivation. The summer crop usually develops without major incidents, but this time growers are worried that hail and rain could reduce their yields.

Tender could boost the market
