Sesame seeds: market turns crazy over record sales in India

NEW DELHI/KHARTOUM. As sales hit an unexpected record-high in India prices have climbed. South Korea intends to issue a new tender at the start of July.

New tender in July

Although arrivals were initially expected to weigh on the market this week, the opposite happened instead. This reversal was triggered by one event alone, namely that as much as 270,000 kg of sesame seeds were sold in the district of Junagadh within only four hours. An exporter paid high amounts of cash to farmers and traders. This stimulated the market overnight.
