NEW DELHI. After the successful tender participation, Indian sesame seed prices can no longer maintain their former level. Despite corresponding purchases by exporters, the pressure is growing due to otherwise low demand.

Tender support only short-lived

The last tender had provided some temporary support for sesame seed prices in the Indian domestic market. Now, Indian exporters have successfully participated, but their cover purchases are not enough to continue to firm prices. Instead, both domestic markets and export prices saw significant downward corrections this week. Hulled sesame seeds, 99.95% purity are at a level of USD 2,600/mt CIF Hamburg and unhulled sesame actually fell back to USD 2,435/mt CIF.
