Sesame seeds: prices remain largely stable

NEW DELHI. In India, the winter season is off to a slow start and the sesame seed market is unusually quiet. In addition to the country’s own crop, a further 30,000 mt of sesame seeds are to be imported by the end of the season in March 2024.

India fears for market share

Prices on the Indian sesame seed market vary slightly from time to time, but there are currently no major fluctuations. Deliveries to the trade markets are comparatively low, but the same applies to domestic demand, which is traditionally strongest in the winter months. Between April and November, 40,000-50,000 mt of sesame seeds were also imported into India, which is why there is sufficient supply. Another 30,000 mt of sesame seeds should be imported by the end of March 2024, according to a market players.
