Sesame seeds: rising prices reduce chances of tender participation

NEW DELHI. The result of the current sesame seed tender will be announced next week. Due to recent price hikes in the Indian market, traders fear that their chances of winning the tender are slim.

Germany cuts imports from India

Despite significantly lower import volumes from India and Nigeria, Germany's import volume of sesame seeds in the first ten months of the 2020/2021 season was 33,152 mt - about 6.4% more than in the same period last year. With the onset of the ETO scandal about a year ago, sesame seed imports from India declined sharply and the average monthly import volume halved year-on-year to 422 mt, as did total imports.
