NEW DELHI. While sesame seed suppliers in India have been unable to compete in the international market, the tide may now be turning in their favour. This also has implications for South Korea’s tender.

Traders sold out

Sesame seeds have remained bullish in India. Trouble now is not only the supply squeeze for superior quality sesame seeds, which has persisted for two months, but also an upsurge in demand. While international demand is more subtle for hulled seeds from India, a cold spell has driven up domestic demand. Some traders even report that they are no longer able to supply local customers.
