NEW DELHI. India's sesame seed crop should be available on the market in a few weeks. The outlook is still positive, but heavy rainfall is reported for the weekend.

Crop available in a few weeks

After prices on the Indian sesame seed market had recently firmed, a slight downward trend was observed again this week. In the next two to three weeks, the new crop is expected in the commercial markets and market players are optimistic about the expected quality. Only the weather could still pose a challenge for the farmers; some of the seeds could only be sown with a delay of a few days and the Gujarat State Meteorological Department is expecting heavy local rainfall from the weekend onwards, which could dama
