MANISA. Buyers in Europe are confronted with great differences in price. At the same time, exporters in Turkey are struggling to increase sales before Christmas.

Weak export figures
The average export price is about 7% cheaper than it was around this time last year, with market prices also being below the level of last year. Despite this, exports have dropped by 6.8% as compared to last year.

Depending on quality, raw sultanas are trading for 3.80-4.30 TRY/kg on the open market. The TMO only pays up to 4.00 TRY/kg and also reserves the right to make deductions in the case the quality is not satisfactory. This means that the farmers prefer to sell high quality products in the open market.
