Sultanas: farmers speculate on high base prices

MANISA. Turkish exporters are hoping for good sales in the export of table grapes. The harvest was able to start much earlier than usual due to the high temperatures in recent weeks. Meanwhile, TARİŞ is expected to announce the new sultana prices this week.

Early start to table grape exports

For several weeks now, the hot and dry weather has favoured the ripening process of the grapes in the Turkish province of Manisa. In the Sarıgöl region there, growers have therefore been able to start harvesting grapes around 20 days earlier than usual, with the Superior variety being offered at TRY 25-50/kg ex farm and seedless grapes at TRY 25-45/kg. Temperatures are expected to climb to 37-39°C again in the coming days.
