MANISA. High prices have shaped the Turkish sultana market this year and are dampening exports. Dwindling stocks are now causing prices for organic sultanas to rise further.

Prices about USD 1,500/mt higher than last year

At the end of last week, the long-awaited rain finally arrived in Manisa, bringing cooler weather with it. However, daytime temperatures are expected to rise again to around 20°C in the coming days, although this development will be accompanied by further occasional rainfall.

The weeks leading up to Christmas are usually the busiest period for the Turkish dried fruit trade and exporters are in top form. This year, however, many companies have a lot of spare capacity and are far from their utilisation limits
