Sultanas: Positive outlook for 2018/19

MANISA. Turkish sultana producers are planning to permanently raise average prices. They justify this increase by the lower profit margins due to higher production costs.

 

300,000 mt again?
Since the beginning of the season, Turkey has shipped 175,747 mt. The Aegean Export Association estimates the export potential for 2017/18 to amount to 270,000 mt. The added domestic demand of approx. 50,000 mt should also be observed. Thus, no notable surpluses are expected at the end of this season and market participants hope that the early availability of this year's crop will compensate for any bottlenecks.
