MANISA. Traders are wondering when the price hike for sultanas will stop in Turkey. Limited supplies and the current upsurge also render any government interventions obsolete.

Up to TRY 100/kg for organic sultanas

The price rally is far from over with producers continuing to lift rates and exporters following suit. While Tariş was expected to issue new offers last week, the organisation has failed to act so far. In fact, there is absolutely no need for an intervention to support the market at this stage. Type 9 sultanas are currently trading at TRY 58-60/kg and organic type 9 sultanas at TRY 80-85/kg. Yet, supplies are limited and prices may even climb to TRY 100/kg.
