MANISA/NEW DELHI. In the Turkish growing regions, milder weather is likely to cause the vines to start budding in the coming weeks. Farmers are taking protective measures against hail damage. In India, the new crop is arriving on the commercial markets.

Farmers cover their vines

In the Turkish province of Manisa, it will remain sunny this week with daytime temperatures of 18-20°C. At night, temperatures will drop to 4-7°C. This means that the weather should remain mild enough for the vines to form their first buds in the coming weeks. In the Sarıgöl region, which is particularly known for its seedless sultana grapes, farmers have begun to cover vines with nets to protect them from potential hail damage in the spring and summer months.
