Sultanas: Turkish traders are confident

MANISA. Turkish sultana traders see themselves in a clearly better position than the competition, especially with regards to the quality of their commodities.

The offers are largely stable; however, the stocks of Type 10 sultanas are shrinking, causing the prices to rise. Market players expect the sultana production to be as good this year as in 2016, the plants withstood the frost phase without significant damage. However, it could become critical again later in the season during the drying phase. Rainfall can rapidly reduce the quality during this phase.

Meanwhile, Turkish dried fruit exporters have already delivered almost 190,000 mt of sultanas to foreign countries. In the entire 2015/16 season, only a few tons more were exported than in the last eight months.
