Sultanas: volatile markets and declining prices

MANISA. Both commodity and export prices have fallen in the raisin markets compared to last week. This is due to several factors.

Turkish lira loses in value

Last week 4,466 metric tonnes of sultanas were shipped overseas from Turkey at an average export price of USD 2,060 per metric tonne. In the same week last year 5,655 metric tonnes of sultanas were exported at an average price of USD 2,150 per metric tonne. According to the latest export reports, total shipments of sultanas from the 2019 crop amounted to 138,844 metric tonnes until 2 March 2020 compared to 153,456 metric tonnes in the same period last year.
