Sunflower seeds: Poland opens borders for Ukrainian transit

SOFIA/KYIV. With the decision of the Polish government to stop the import of large agricultural products from Ukraine until the start of the new season, all imports and also the transit of these products through Poland came to a temporary standstill.

Several countries impose import ban

Beside shipping, Poland is one of the most important bottlenecks through which imports of Ukrainian agricultural commodities into the EU take place. Many trading companies depend on importing the goods in order to be able to pass them on to their customers, often in other EU countries. As a result, the transit ban on shipments from Ukraine will be lifted again on the night of Thursday 20 April to Friday 21 April.
