Sunflower seeds: prices for the 2022 crop are being negotiated

SOFIA. Prices for black sunflower seeds have picked up again, interest in hulled kernels remains low. Talks on prices for the 2022 crop are ongoing, but contracts are said to include a specific condition.

Prices do not meet expectations

Trading activity in the Bulgarian hulled sunflower seed market continues to be sluggish. Many buyers had hoped that prices would decline with the turn of the year. However, this has not happened so far and black sunflower seeds have increased again after their short recovery break. Prices here are around EUR 600/mt FCA Bulgaria and for bakery kernels, traders are currently charging EUR 1.06-1.10/kg FCA Bulgaria.
