SOFIA. More and more suppliers are withdrawing from the sunflower seed market for the time being. Market players hope for a few quiet weeks during the holidays.

Export regulations

Developments in recent weeks have made it clear that demand is significantly exceeding the supply of bakery kernels this season. The decline in production was compensated for by higher imports from the main growing countries Russia and Ukraine, but this could soon be over. A direct export ban is not expected for the time being, but local industry associations are suggesting a strict regulation of exports with the help of higher export duties.
