SOFIA. Attention has shifted towards the new crop, which is currently benefitting from rain. Although local hailstorms have been reported...

... they are only expected to have a limited impact on yields.

Prices for the new crop start at EUR 655 per metric tonne

Market players report that Bulgaria had imported an estimated 700,000 metric tonnes of sunflower seeds by the end of May to stock up supplies in 2019/2020. While the prices for sunflower oil have risen in accordance with the global price trend, black in shells with a 98% purity are trading in a stable range of EUR 353 per metric tonne CPT Varna.

Since attention is shifting towards the new crop bakery kernels continue to trade in a stable range of EUR 720-755 per metric tonne DDP Germany for prompt shipments. As market players have already anticipated the export prices for new crop are steadily being revised downwards with bakery kernels now trading in a range of EUR 655-670 per metric tonne DDP Germany. Prices are expected to continue to decline.
