Sunflower seeds: record exports in Ukraine

KYIV/SOFIA. Ukraine's sunflower seed exports have reached a record this season. Prospects for sowing are also highly encouraging. The extension of the Black Sea Grain Initiative is still uncertain.

Bulgaria is key destination

Ukraine exported a record 1.54 million mt of sunflower seeds between September and February according to APK-Inform, mainly to the EU (80%) and Turkey (19%). Bulgaria is the most important export destination for Ukraine by far as shipments amounted to 429,000 mt, followed by Romania with 406,000 mt. Exports have now, however, slowed as most importers do not require any further stocks and demand has declined.
