Sunflower seeds: no restrictions on Ukrainian agricultural exports

SOFIA/KYIV. Traders from western Ukraine are keen to sell their stocks as quickly as possible, which eases the situation in the sunflower seed market slightly. Depending on the region, sunflower seed production in Ukraine may be up to 45% lower this year, according to current estimates.

Sowing for sunflower seeds progresses

In the Bulgarian sunflower seed market, prices have stabilised for the time being. Bakery kernels are quoted at EUR 1.58-1.65/kg FCA Bulgaria, while raw seeds are traded at a level of BGN 1,650/mt or EUR 844/mt FCA. Many buyers have come to terms with the current prices, which is why traders see no reason to lower their prices for the time being. Overall, prices have now more than doubled in the past two years.
