Sunflower seeds: Russia sticks to export duty

SOFIA/MOSCOW. In order to be able to fully utilise the capacities of domestic oil mills, Russia wants to keep the export duty on sunflower seeds as long as necessary. Bulgarian growers, meanwhile, are reluctant to sell their oilseed stocks in advance.

Ukraine has sown 94% of the planned area

In Ukraine, 5.284 million ha have been sown so far for this year's sunflower seed crop, which is 94% of the planned area of about 5.63 million ha. However, it remains to be seen to what extent the dam burst will affect the cultivated areas in the affected regions. Until then, a crop of a good 12 million mt had been expected.
