Sunflower seeds: shipments running at full speed

SOFIA/KYIV. Ukraine is still shipping sunflower seeds to the European Union at full speed. Only few oil mills have resumed operations so far. Suppliers have issued new prices for last year's and this year's crop.

New crop is cheaper

A lack of rain and excessively high temperatures are impacting the crops in Ukraine. Late crops such as corn or sunflower seeds are suffering from increasingly dry soils and too little rain. While warm weather initially prompted plants to grow faster, cooler weather would now give agriculture a welcome break.

Traders have once again cut their prices for prompt deliveries of bakery kernels and for the new crop. The prices for this year's and last year's crop are similar depending on the stocks individual suppliers have at their disposal. T
