Sunflower seeds: USDA estimates available again

SOFIA/KYJIW. Following the delay in the publication of crop forecasts due to the government shutdown, the latest data from the US Department of Agriculture is now finally available again. Meanwhile, the market for hulled sunflower kernels is characterised by low trading activity.

USDA estimates differ

After the 43-day shutdown, the US Department of Agriculture recently published its overdue crop estimates for the 2025 global sunflower seed crop. Compared to the September figures, there were further downward corrections in some countries and regions. In Russia and the EU, with 18.5 million mt (+9.5%) and 8.575 million mt (+4.0%) respectively, crops are still expected to exceed last year's results.
