NEW DELHI/ATLANTA. The harvest has started in the USA, while market players are facing various difficulties. Indian prices have fallen, but this is likely to change again soon.

Mixed conditions in India

Indian market players are currently describing the peanut market as rather sluggish and have little hope that this will change in the coming days. Prices have also fallen by around 6% in the past three weeks. Arrivals of the winter crop have increased on the domestic market, with reports of a huge influx in Uttar Pradesh in particular, while the new crop is reaching the markets in Gujarat somewhat more slowly - 70% of the new crop are said to have not yet reached the markets here, except in the north, where arrivals are already higher.
