NEW DELHI. Although the acreage in India is smaller this season, good yields make up for the deficit. At present, the new crop still has a high moisture content, yet the quality is generally reported to be good.

High moisture content

After ups and downs in the last few days, prices for Indian peanuts have now settled at the level of last week and market players reckon that there will be stagnation for the time being. In the meantime, more goods from the new crop are arriving on the markets. Traders at the Gondal spot market report that the arrivals are of good quality, but still have a high moisture content due to the heavy rains in the growing areas.
