NEW DELHI. India’s peanut market finally witnessed a turnaround at the end of last year. Suppliers are now waiting for demand to bounce back in China and in the Gulf states.

Local demand boosts market

While peanuts were trading in a relatively narrow range for a frustratingly long time, the situation changed in the last two weeks of December. Prices are on the rise and suppliers are confident that the market will receive another boost. January is a decisive month as household buying tends to rise to a considerable extent with many buying full-year supplies of groundnut oil.
