NEW DELHI. The Indian government is selling its peanut stocks at higher prices than expected, which is providing some support to the market. Geopolitical factors are also making it difficult to import other edible oils. Nevertheless, prices could decline soon.

Various factors are stabilising the peanut market

The peanut market remains firm, a pattern already observed in recent weeks; export prices have seen only a nominal decline of USD 10/mt compared to last week. Two key factors are currently driving trade: Firstly, contrary to previous expectations, government institutions have not lowered their auction prices but have raised them slightly.
