Peanuts: USDA revises crop estimates

NEW DELHI/ATLANTA. The USDA's new US crop forecasts are much closer to the estimates of market players. In India, Gujarat is ahead of the other states in terms of this year's peanut production.

Indian prices get support

Although peanut prices in India have fallen slightly again, market players are optimistic about the near future. The crop estimates at the beginning of the season do not appear to be met, with only Gujarat impressing with a large crop of an estimated 3 million mt, of which around 70% have already reached the markets, mainly from the north of the Indian state. Other large producing states such as Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, however, are reporting a drop in yield of around a third, which is mainly due to insufficient rainfall
