MANISA. The TMO has started buying and sultana producers are queuing up. Prices are up at the Commodity Exchange in Izmir.

State-run organisations purchase 1,750 mt on first day alone

Bid prices are so good that the growers have formed long queues with whole tractor loads in front of the receiving offices. The TMO and Tariş pruchased 1,750 mt of sutlanas on Monday alone, when buying started. The prices for type 9 sultanas have risen from last week's TRY 11.50/kg to TRY 12.00/kg at the Izmir Commodity Exchange and have thereby nearly approached the TMO bid price of TRY 12.50/kg. Trading volumes have slumped as low as 300 mt here.
