SOFIA. Sowing is still in full progress in Bulgaria and official estimates are to be issued soon. Meanwhile, the producers' restraint proved to be successful.

Sharp rise in raw seed prices

The weather is expected to be ideal for sowing. Prices have, nevertheless, risen as black in-shells with a 96% purity are trading as much as EUR 17.00 per metric tonne higher than last week at EUR 327 per metric tonne CPT Varna. Some offers range even higher than this. In holding back the producers have successfully driven up the market. Bakery kernels are in high demand release order are diligently being placed ahead of time. In some cases contracts that were actually intended to last until the end of the season have already been entirely shipped. However, the rise in the prices for bakery kernels is still moderate in relation to the rise in raw seed prices. Buyers only have to accept longer delivery times prompted by tighter border controls. Market players are reckoning with higher prices in summer.
