MANISA. Turkey’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Livestock has issued an official production estimate for sultanas, along with a bid price. Market players also report that the TMO will start buying soon.

TMO to start buying on 7 September

At 271.000 mt the official production estimate falls short of expectations, which ranged at 280,000 mt. Moreover, Turkey’s sultana and raisin production is set to fall short of last year’s 305,000 mt and of the five-year moving average, which the INC estimates at 277,000 mt. The ministry has also set a bid price of TRY 12.50/kg for conventional type 9 sultanas. In addition, the TMO will start buying a minimum volume of 50,000 mt on 7 September to prevent prices from declining.
