Russia becomes a grain superpower in wheat exports while the production of this agricultural crop in the world decreased in 2017 by 7.4 million MT

The FAO expects the worldwide wheat trade (including flour) to reach 175.2 million MT in 2017/18, which is slightly less than the record of 2016/17 agricultural year (177.4 million MT). This reduction will occur mainly due to lower imports of agricultural crops in Asia, and despite the simultaneous increase in purchases by Europe and North America.

In so saying, the import of wheat by Asian countries estimated at the level of 88.7 million MT in 2017/18 - 2.5% less than in 2016/17. China, in particular, will reduce the purchase of agricultural crops
