It is possible the import duty to be increased again very soon

The Turkish government raised the import duty for sunflower oil in order
to stimulate the local processors. Thus, from 360 USD/MT it became 396
USD/MT. The change became effective on 29th April 2017. Analysts do
not exclude the probability of a tariff revision in the future, says
UkrAgroConsult.
On the eve of adopting in March 2017 of this decision the Turkish
processors agreed on 157,000 MT of sunflower seeds. Overall, over the
last 4 months, the volume of the domestic oil crop processing in Turkey
reached 500,000 MT resulting in a higher volume of sunflower oil and
sunflower meal.
It is expected that within the period of April -
September 2017 Turkey to import 0.34
million MT of sunflower oil in comparison
with 0.3 million MT for the same period of
last year.
Having in mind the adopted change of the rate of the import duty in all
likelihood there will be a decrease in importation of sunflower oil.
The prospects for the oilseed crop market and vegetable oil market in
the new 2017/2018 season will be discussed more detailed on the Fifth
“Black Sea Oil Trade” International Conference, which will be held on
19th September 2017 in Ukraine.
